First off, let me explain what I've got and why I'm needing a local dealer. I'm running a 35hp MB SD on a 18x50 Gatortrax with a hunt deck. I'm only getting barely 20mph. I'm seriously thinking of trading my 35 for a 45 Mag, or maybe even a Black Death 5500. Of those 2, what would be better or what would anybody else recommend? Thought of Gatortail, really just to get the reverse. Also needing some locations for some local dealers. I live in the bottom of middle TN. Do dealers typically take trade-ins? Nothing wrong with motor, I just personally don't think its big enough and want something bigger. Thanks for any help.

I liked the 45 on my 1650HD. I would go that big or 5000. You can probably sell your motor if you get it on some sites but you are gonna wait on a new motor.

Personally I'd look into getting a BPS 5500 (not a black death). That would give you enough hp to push a 20' boat well.

As far as dealers go, you would need to call MB to get a list of the closest dealers. Wether or not they take trade-ins is up to that particular dealer, some do and some dont, just have to call and see.

My question is why you only getting 20? Are your rpms good, prop and all that good? I have the 20 foot gator trax and I do better than 20 with a stock 35 hp.

Just mod your existing motor. You'll prolly lose less money that way anyways.

Wal--RPM's run around 4100 out of water, round 4000 in water. New 12" Tiger prop.

Hunt4Deer--I'm in Fayetteville. Could that dealer order a new motor reckon? I'm really wanting something bigger. Are they pretty good people? Might have to give them a hollar.

yes they are a full dealer, also down in guntersville there is a dealer. i was going to get a motor from him but ordered direct.

you do understand the ones you mentioned are all built off the motor you have. as said above you may be better off modifying what you have up to a 45-55 hp motor.

as for lawrenceburg marine, they seem to bbe a good outboard shop, but they just started with mud motors. the guy in guntersville has been in them for awile. if you go the mod route check with some of the vendors here for parts and diy or find a lawnmower shhop you trust.
