What does anyone know about Orion Mud Motors? Seems like a small alternative to a low horse surface drive. Looks a little crude but I am new to this stuff

In my opinion, copper head and the newest company Dixie mud motors are a better made unit than Orion. Orion uses centrifugal clutch and v-belts. Other brands use timing gears, which seem a better power distribution method. Dixie mud motors are the econimical choice, look on backwoodslanding.com for pricing, they are cheaper than Dixie website. Copperheads have great reviews on this site, for their performance and customer relations. Dixie, being the new kid on the block, does not have reviews yet here, but look promising on their site.

i own the 7 hp kohler orion sd. its a great little motor. it will push me through pretty much anything. as of now i have it on a 1030 jon boat. it will push me at 170lbs, my dog 60lbs, battery 25lbs, and gear about 100lbs around 11 to 12mph. and in that lil boat that is fast enough. steve is a real nice fella and great customer service. quick to get back to me on all my questions. i feel this motor would work alot better on a lil bigger boat like a 12 or 1436.
