Post subject: | Transom Cracking, Best Practices |
I have noticed my transom cracking. I think it's from hauling the boat around on the trailer. The trailer seems to bounce hard on the highway instead of absorbing the bumps in the springs. I have a 17' Southfork flat with a 27 HP Beavertail Surface Drive. I have dropped the axle and pulled apart the springs. Every bolt and nut are corroded. I will be replacing everything with stainless. After I test that I'll see if I need to remove a leaf. I found a transom saver that I modified to work with the surface drive chassis and will be using that going forward. Anything else here I should be doing? I have already had someone weld additional supports to brace the motor inside the boat. |
