Is it even possible for a stock 35 GTR on a regular 1754 GT boat to run 30 with 2 people and gear and 37 with 1 person and no gear? I was told this and was wondering if it was remotely possible. |

no! aint gonna gain 7mph by just putting 1 person outta the boat, may run 30 with 2 peeps and a light load but damn sure aint gonna run 37 with a stock motor. |

A stage 1 will see 30 with 2 peeps, you'll have to go stage 3 to get 37 empty. |

They might blip 30 on the gps in the shallows and they see it, after that, their rig runs 30. |

Being able to run 30 mph is very possible. Some boats do, some don't. When new, my boat and stock motor ran 30 mph. However, no stock motor will push a boat 37 mph. |

I got a stock 35 GTR and a 14.5' boat. Lite load I touch 30 in optimal conditions normally run 28. 37 my azz. |

My stock motor on a 16x48 would touch 30 in the right conditions but would run 29. The same hull modded engine would run 34 tops,35 with a skinny mofo at the tiller. Now the same hull has a cdi GTR on it and I have a hard time making it run over 28. I have a 17x54 GT boat and even with the modded motor it would not run over 35 light. With a stock cdi motor it would run 28 and with 3 people and hunting gear it would run 24. |

I hit 33 once in deep water but that current was ripping through the bush canal storm gate. There was a foot an a half difference from one side to the other. When I went the other way I was one plane doing about 3 mph |

I posted a vid on youtube of mine running 30 in deep water. All I have done is put a MM exhaust. It runs 30 most of the time with a new prop and a light load. |

Post subject: | Re: 1754 with 35 GTR speeds |
I always laugh at the speed claims. I bet very, very few (any brand) rigs will break 30 with 1 man and a light load. I have ran with alot of rigs at the runs and I can run with most and out run some. Very few can pass me over distance and Im not running but 28-29 on my better days. Plus I make 2 of some of these guys and usually have my wife and her chit in the boat too which gets me down into 27-28mph range. So yeh alot of these claims are BS. But the GTR are probably on the high end of the speed scale and if that 1-1.5mph impresses you then by all means get you one. ![]() |

Another quick question on speed. I am going to mount a 35 MD hd on a 1648 grizzly mod vee .100 welded. What kind of speeds should I expect? I am thinking with two guys dogs & gear about 25mph. Is that fairly close? Thanks for the input....................... Smoke |

I have a 16-60 GD Boat and a 35GTR with only a MM Exhaust and i can run a constant 29-30 with me (180) and a light load. 2 ppl ( both about 180) can still run a constant 28. But my boat handles a load very well. |

Robert4wd's rig ran 28-29 with me, him, my dog and a hunting load, It'll run 30 all day long with jsut a marshmellow exhaust, he has the boat in question on this thread. It can be done. ON the other hand i carry a load at 31 consistant, ran 32 with me and 2 other guys with an icechest down a bayou not far from my house. OUt ran a 25merc on the back of a 15ft. boat with a guy and his daughter coming home from a hunt one morning, i had 3 people in the boat full hunting load and walked him all the way back to the ramp |
