Just uploaded the video I shot and produced from my trip to Alabama. We transported a 418' x 107' 2800 ton Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Make sure you watch in full screen 720HD: http://youtu.be/BVKDrveREDE?hd=1 |

Great video, Tony. That vessel is impressive. The naval architects who designed it are the best of the best. That design is so innovative. They pushed the envelope of technology and the knowledge and understanding of hydrodynamics to the limit. I'm sure there won't be any mudmotors pushing that baby. |

The LCS is supposed to do well over 40kts but probably goes a lot faster but they keep that info secret ![]() The ship is going to fight those Somali pirates. Can you imagine those cats when they have this thing hauling ass on them ![]() This was a pretty nice shoot, I had a timelapse camera setup in the Renissance hotel across the river as well as a GoPro on the barge with me and another HD cam for most of the shots. We also had a helicopter shooting stills and the shipyard also had a plane in the air. Nice size production. The coolest thing was that I had problems finding a room at our regular hotel (Holiday in Mobile) due to the GoDaddy Bowl so the engineer and I had to stay at the Hampton inn in Daphne. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the bay (that's where the last sunset timelapse came from), we were living it up chillin on the balcony. Also went to the Bass Pro Shop there, first time ever going to one. Have to say it was the coolest job so far! |

That some cool stuff. That boat like that will run in the 70mph range. Worked on the old HSV 2 doing engine overhauls and it's a a 70mph boat it's crazy how fast and well they maneuver. With just 2 engines running we were doing 50 |

Once they started rolling onto the barge, I'd say it took about 1-1 1/2 hours to get all the way on. They pump the barge down and as the weight rolls on they pump out to compensate. Like a fat man stepping in a boat so to speak. On the part where they rolled onto the drydock (the transload), that only took about 45-50 minutes to roll on. That drydock was over 800' long so as big as the ship was, it didn't even take up half of the drydock. |

Hey Tony also those big movers under the boat, we used them to move our vessels and big structures into our new units here at the plant. (Motiva Port Arthur) Used a company called Mammoet, talk about hauling loads, them suckers can move some heavy stuff around! Unbelievable how these things can manuver |
