 MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
ITS ON THE REFUGE. CAD PICS AND PRICING ECT. It looks impressive. I still would go with a GTR personally.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
duckhunter. net go to boats and blinds its under mud motor. I think you will have to register. I personally dont like it. I have been on here for maybe a year and a half. I have a longtail and have decided to get a 35 GTR when funds are available. I think the refuge is an ok site. Deadbird8 is on there also. It looks like to me that if you hit a stump while running that it would break the lower unit housing above the shaft.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
duckhunter. How do you figure the lower unit will break? I say this because look at a pro-drive lower unit. I've seen pd's go over and through some chit. Watch the video of rambeux. Don't take everyone's bashing of mud buddy to heart and consider it gold. What if this new motor blows everything else out the water thats on the market?

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
it is still on there westend. When you see it. Look where the lower unit bolts on. It looks TO ME that there will be a weak point. It could be the next best thing in mudmotors. Just about everyone I KNOW has had problems with MB. I have never owned a mudbuddy. Nor will I ever own one. I like the idea though. It breeds new ideas and further advancements in Mudmotors. I run stumps almost exclusively. Reelfoot lake can be a very tough place to put a boat on. I have very limited areas with the type of mud you guys run. I like the ability to do it if necessary. I need to stay on plane and slide over the stumps while on plane instead of pushing water and center punching a stump. Back to what I was saying. The MB design looks cool. But the proof is in the pudding. August 2012 availability

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
currently a beavertail longtail. I have run a prodrive a lot at reelfoot lake. Im getting a 35 GTR as soon as funds are available. There isnt a lot of dirtwork that happens during the winter. I own an excavation and grading company. Trust me I know durability. I do like the stainless steel idea of the lower unit housing on the new MB.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
I like it. Wouldn't trade the 5500BD for it though ...I don't see the need to do all the scrambling of selling, buying, ordering, and waiting just to get reverse.. I've got a winch, push poles, and I've never been stuck bad enough to justify having a reverse.....
There'll prob be a few kinks thatll need working out within the first year or so of it's release to the public and there are hundreds/thousands out in the field vs only a handful....as there is with most new "cutting edge" technology that's incorporated into existing consumer products

Hmmmm, wonder if they have gone with fuel injection, since that is a very clean design and I see nothing resembling a carb???
Looks advanced, more modern but it's what's inside that matters.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
I don't think it will have any problems in the mud because they said with the 28" you can get 17" under and they have a 32" option so I think it'll do fine

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
It looks to me like this motor is targeted at a completely different crowd. For the people that are on the fence about an outboard or a mudmotor, this will be kinda like combining the two. It wont have the speed of the outboard, and it probably wont have the 4x4 capability of a hyperdrive or GTR, etc. But it will be more comfortable to drive. I think it will sell well, but i dont think it will be a substitute for a long shafted belt drive motor in the roughest conditions.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
I think its going to do better than the hyper drive in the mud, hell I think it will do better than the hyper in all catagories. Its shaft is just as long, and it has reverse, so its going to be better in the mud. And why would it not do good in the grass? To me it looks like the belt housing of the gatortail goes down slightly further than the housing on this thing (which catches more grass), and its weighted back to keep it down while running thick vegetation. I think if it holds up, it will be a great mud motor. Haters gonna hate though.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
It looks good and unless it has some mechanical issues I see no reason it wont run good. Most of the MM owners that I know around here use their current MMs more like outboards than we do anyway. They are not out there running around and tearing chit up just to see what it can do all the time. Its kinda like the Deep Mud everyone is always pissing about. Most people will go around most of that bad chit every chance they get no matter if their motor can make it through or not. They just dont get into the 4x4 side of things. Alot use them strictly during hunting season. So this thing should fill a big void for thsoe that have been on the fence as to if they actually needed the inconviences of a MM or switching motors. Id like to take one for a spin.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
Way to pretty much steal the design of a pd without the convenice of full power reverse. Good luck with all that still will be behind the GTR

I don't know why y'all so impressed with a CAD drawing? Won't get me talking about it until they show up with a motor in hand, hanging in the back of a boat. Till then, it's just a picture.

 MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
Haters gonna hate. This pushes other MM manufacturers to get out of their comfort zones and create new and exciting products for us. Coco was perfectly content for years and years until surface drive style motors took the market by storm. He adapted and created his own motor. People who constantly make negative comments just feel threatened by something new and innovative. Why? I don't know but it sure helps MMT get a TON of hits.

Re: MUD BUDDY NEW MOTOR DESIGN
Like any other business... its about who has deep pockets and whois is willing to throw out the funds to do the R&D and marketing. The dislike toward MB steems from a long line of issues in the past that will no go away b/c southerners hold long grudges. I think the utah group is the only one out that isnt staying in a comfort zone. He wasnt the first but he keeps changing his prduct to get new customers and also to try to sell a new product to existing customers. I dont know all the history just hear and there talk but I have only seen constant new products come out of one of the big three.
