Sell ur boat and get a true mud hull and a 35 sd. Brand is ur preference. That riveted boat won't last long and it being a mod-v will kill the capabilities of these motors |

It depends on your current budget, loads the boat will have to carry, and speeds you want to see. There are a few of us not too far from you. You can jump in my boat with me this spring for a ride if you want. I have a 1644 and am planning on a 27 hp surface drive. I'm in chaska, and spend a fair amount of time on the rivers. 36 pd would work on that boat no problems....being the most like an outboard i think it would be the better for your applications. And fpr aint bad either.... |

This is not bad advice, if I was going with a big block or had plans to upgrade hulls I'd look at the prodrive as well. Sent using my bag phone |

I ran a 27 mini on a 1648 riveted jon (no mod V)for a while. It performed OK with 1 or 2 people but if you are planning on hunting 3 people, jump to a 35. If you plan to stay with that boat reinforce the transom and don't be suprised if you see cracking and leaking issues, especially if you trailer it a lot. The mod-v will hurt your perfomance, especially with that load. As 4Cody4 said, there are a number of us in the area if you want to see/ride in some other boats. I have a 36 pd on 1748 phowler and I am in Faribault. |

I had a 1648 War Eagle with a 27 PD and I wasn't happy with performance at all. My buddy had a 36 PD on the same boat and it did the job for the duck hunting he did with it. I know another guy that has a 35 MB on the same type boat and his does fine also. His is a little quicker than the PD was. |
