Post newbie question
I have a 1656 alweld brand flatboat w/ side console that I think I want to put a mudmotor and boatblind on for duckhunting. I figure 35 hp w/ reverse is what I need. I'm not looking for a straight mud beast, just something to get me in 2-4 inches of water, soft marsh mud, w/ occasional mudflat. Questions are: anybody have similar rig to give performance info? what about steering wheel operation (I really want to have remote steering wheel if at all feasible)? I am hoping to use this boat because I have confidence in it for rough seas travel but don't want to find out "mudmotors don't work on those hulls, dummy" the hard way. This will be my first mudboat. Thanks for any advice.

Dummy :)

But seriously, if you gonna spend good money on a Gatortail, you ought to pair it with a boat with known performance qualities. My custom wooden boat is an example of an experiment that eventually turned out fine but it took lots of modifications to hull and engine to make it so.
