Remounting trim/neutral controls on HD Sport
The controls on MBs at the end of the handle, are held in place by a plate that is riveted to the handle. Why they didn't bolt it iduno? All the beati'n and bangi'n has got mine loose, and I'm afraid it's going to cause a bad connection. Has anyone moved their controls or remounted them? I need to do somthing, I'm just not sure weather to just replace with bolts and nuts, or re-mount in a different location. It seems like a bad design to me to put the controls at the very end of the handle where all the abuse takes place.

You can drill out or dremel off the rivets and replace with strong steel rivets. Make sure not to leave the back halves in the tiller tube, where it would cause wire damage eventually. You can also put some twist into the mounting plate/tab, for better angle of the dangle. Should be extra slack in the wire by the engine you can feed foward thru the grommet(spray with silicone if stuck). Been awhile since I done one, but it was quick and easy to repair (the control end shattered and the tab got bent from an impact). It's location is handy for use, but very prone to damage there, spcecially in a skinny boat where the tiller end sticks out the side of the boat.
