I have a mud buddy 35 sport. Is there any way to keep my boat from porpoising? |

The pods made the boat run about 5 mph faster and it handles great but still porpoises like crazy |

pods suck in the mud......may work for cruising deep water.......make sure your transom angle is right for your motor......Id cut the pods out and if anything have a couple tabs welded on and fix the porpoising...if the motor is too heavy for the boat, add a hunt deck, but get rid of the pods or put an outboard on it if your not dealing with mud.....put your battery and gas tank in the front of the boat. |

Hit a good stump right at the transom. Get a good hook and that will keep it from porpoising |

Nboone. Why did you add pods? because some told you? Well then they are making an outboard assumptions about running a SD. Next they will tell you to make it a tunnel hull. I find it funny how you are the one with problems and yet you talk shit on someone else's rig. They aren't the one looking for answers so obviously who has the bigger piece of shit? You came here for help and then you run your cock holster to the very people who are trying to help YOU. I can think of 4 way off hand to fix your porpising problem. So hold your breath until I tell you. |

Ok. You guys are right. I shouldnt talk about peoples things while im the one with the problem It just took me the wrong way when you called my boat a turd. I apoligize. Also i just recently sold my mud hull it was a 1751 excel flat bottom. I live up north and hunt open water and it couldnt handle the chop very well. Thats why i didnt care to add the pods to new boat because there is no mud up here. Just open water and sloughs |

That's just a term everyone on here uses for a boat that doesn't perform. I didn't mean it as a personal insult. |

I'm not trying to get in the middle of ya'lls battle but I had the same problem and all I did was move my battery and gas tank to the front and that wasn't quite enough so I had to weld two beads on the bottom of my hull as far back as I could go starting from the outside going in about 6" on each side and that's all it took. I was thinking about trim tabs but I was advised that they affect performance to much where as the weld beads don't, but they both work for the porpoising. |

I had a boat that would start to porpoise at 22-23 mph and get worse as speed increased. The bottom of the boat just forward of the transom had a very small hump. (just the opposite of a hook) I wacked it about 8 times with a 3 lb hammer to level it out and it never porpoised again. The solution was very similar to what Quackkillz described. |
