 Need advice on my rigs
I have a 13' gheenoe with a beefed up transom that has no motor, and I have a 14' all weld modified-v high side john boat with a 25 mariner outboard. I realized this year that neither of these boats gets me all the place I want to go for duck hunting. One of the places I hunt has a 10 hp motor restriction. So I was thinking about getting a stump jumper long tail for the Gheenoe do to the fact that I don't think a 10 hp would push my jon boat well enough. I prefer to hunt out of the jon boat because it already has a blind and is much more comfortable. I also use the jon boat for fishing in the inter coastal so I'm concerned about putting a long tail on that boat. I'm thinking the ideal situation is the stump jumper 7hp on the gheenoe and a surface drive on the jon boat but money is very limited. What would ya'll do? I would also like to know what hp motors you recommend for the boats.

Re: Need advice on my rigs
I'd either put a 6.5 copperhead SD on the gheenoe or the 10hp copperhead on the jon. Both will get you just about anywhere and be under the 10hp restriction. The 14' may be a little slow with a 10, but that gheenoe would probably fly.

ide do the 10 copperhead. it would be fun on the ghenoee and you could swap it onto the jon boat for bigger loads. keep the 25 for fishing. stay away from the long tail. you wont have enough room in the back of the ghenoee to operate it very well.
