Guys, I am considering (strongly) a home made surface drive. 6.5 Honda "knockoff" engine. Looks to be used very little, heard it run. cranked first pull. Can tell it's homemade but young guy did a fine job. What's you guys opinion on what it takes to build one money wise? Also, it has a clutch and is chain driven. any good bad or ugly in this set up |

Ok to adress the chain drive first; Chain does not handle shock loads to well. Also homemade means he used parts to his certain criteria, so when homemade breaks good luck finding parts for repair. Dixie and Copperhead offer 6.5hp surfacedrives at reasonable prices. In my opinion go with a name brand. Then when you motor breaks, which I can guarantee it will if you use it, you will have access to parts for repairs.(also if you buy new, you will have a warranty) |

Guy on My old lease owns a fab shop. They made a longtail. Looked great but it had so much. VI bration he bought a go devil See where I'm goin. With this? |
