Post subject:  Camo stencils ??

Any of you guys paint your boat using a stencil? I bought a set of duck grass stencils off e bay. Today I tried to start on my boat but was having problems getting the stencil to lay down flat around the rib running down the side of my boat, I wasn't happy with the way it looked and ended up wiping off the small section that I did paint with some acetone. So my question is does anyone have any tips or tricks that I could use to help with this? How can I hold the stencil in place while I spray it? Any help is greatly appreciated. And thank you in advance.

Easiest way is with the motor off & the boat upside down, but with the help of some stencil adhesive, it's not too bad to do it by yourself with it on the trailer. Spray a light coat of adhesive on the back of the stencil to help hold it in place.

Another trick is to use several different colors, overlapping them so it looks more like real grass, & also helps to hide where the stencil isn't tight up against the boat.

Go to a craft shop like hobby lobby. There are many different kinds of spray adhesive but the kind that says for stencil use will have more tack. You will end up spraying less and have less build up on your stencil. Just mist the back and wait a few seconds before applying. It will be your best friend.
