 1442 Alweld and a 35 mb?
Hey guys I am going tomorrow to pick up my new/used 35hp mb sd and I really want to see how well it runs. Well my 1860 isn't ready for a motor yet so I was wondering if I could put it on my 1442 alweld just temporary. What is yalls opinion?

Can you hang that 35 on there? Sure can.
Will it float with it? Just barely.
Should you run it? ONLY if you want to strategically place it on the bottom of whatever body of water you run it in.

I've seen one almost sink with a 23 on it, a 35 would be dangerous especially on a short transom. If you just have to try it, like I know I would Stay in a foot of water.

Man decisions decisions, I got a buddy with a 1648 mod-v express I may see if I can use that but I can almost guarantee I will have to put it on something for shits and giggles.
I have a 1436 riveted aluminum can boat, y'all think would be safer?

I know coonass381 on here has a 35MB with heads, carb, and exhaust on the back of a 14 foot Lowe and that thing rolls. The water is definately close to going over the transom though, just make sure you have a good bilge pump.
Here is a pic I have of his rig..

 Re: 1442 Alweld and a 35 mb?
Well I tried it. I would not recommend it!! it would be almost impossible if you don't have someone to sit on the front deck. The boat planed out good but I was a little nervous to bring her down off plane a little water came Over the transom. The trim is out on the motor so I didn't get to see what it would actually do but Im glad it was broke because then I would have wanted to stay an play and it probably would have been "strategically placed on the body of water we were testing it on". 1442+35hpsd= bad idea

I'd say just wait until youre boat's ready that way you have nothing to worry about. I know how excited one can get when they get a new toy though. Do what you want.
