 Re: Vacation ???
if your staying in the city and looking to fish inland for reds and trout or bowfish id check out http://www.louisianasportsman.com/merch ... =43&L2=127 and try and find a guide thats fishing outa Port Sulphur, Empire, Buras, Venice area. Plaquemines has some of the best inshore fishing in the country. If your looking to go offshore Venice is defiantly where youll wanna be! From the city to Port Sulphur your lookin about an hour drive, Venice (the end of the road) is about an hour and a half.

The war museum in downtown is a nice 1/2 day to spend.

 Re: Vacation ???
Feb/March is a good time to visit. It can be cold, but nothing even close to what you'll be coming from in MN.
FYI, the superbowl will be here on the first weekend in Feb, so IF you can find a room expect to pay top $$, as well as be prepared to wait where ever you decide to eat.............Most people dont know this, but Mardi Gras parades are nightly for almost 2 weeks before Mardi Gras day, which will be Feb 12 next year..........And generally there is a festival a week in what we call spring (end of Feb, thru the beginning of May), so again that is a good time to visit.
Per the fishing, that is my favorite time to go. Water levels are kinda low (before all your snow melts and comes down the Miss River), so finding fish isnt hard. Also the weather is alot more predictable, vs right now where we have a 40% chance of rain every day from the afternoon heat..........if you need a recomendation for a guide I have lots of customers that are charter captains and if you let me know what you want to do, I'll make some recomendations..........and yea, anywhere in Plaquemines parish is probably the best fishing in north America.
