 Steel flex
Used my 1442 Alumacraft coated with steel flex during the archery season. Hit several submerged knee cypress heads. Boat had minor scratches but did not ding. I layered it on very thick towards the back 1/8” plus. Amazing how strong this stuff is.
Also hit a cypress tree during night time navigation head on. That’s a different story. Bent the front of the boat about 6” inwards around the tree. Took the boat to the welder and fixed it.
Added a new bumper and top plate. I’m amazed how well this boat held up after such a large impact. The steel flex must have added significantly to the structural integrity of this boat. Steel flex is a great product.

rudyyeng, are you Flaco's friend? Welcome aboard! You have to stop running into trees!

Yes. He’s a great guy. His group of friends are top notch. He got me into this mud motor thing and it’s a blast. I’m messing with my Honda and think it’s even faster.
Flaco turned me on to steel flex. What a great product. I thought I totaled my boat during my deer hunt adventure. Nothing major really happen. Fixed everything and ready to go again.

 Re: Steel flex
Rudy, this is Raul! Glad you have the waterfowling affliction! Hope you're having fun, because bottom line, that's what it is. I must counsel you that there are some ornery types here, you might get cussed at or worse but take it all in stride, part of the free exchange on this site. I was trying to explain on the Longtail forum to somebody that the souping up and increasing rpms will not do the same as on a gear reduction shortail motor like yours, on a longtail because you can't exactly turn a bigger prop or you'll get more limited gains. I hope I can get out next weekend to the marsh and look around, all the best!

 Re: Steel flex
Unless the bwt show up down here in droves, we'll be at the lake for sure. It's usually only a couple of woodies in our neighborhood. I also want to go for a run on saturday.
