Guys, I am looking at a used MBSD 23HP. My question is if you guys think that is excessive time on the Vangard engine? Am I looking at problems or a rebuild soon if I buy it? I noticed that most rigs are selling with anywhere from 40-180hrs usually; so, the 289 sounds a lil strong. But in the pics I have seen the motor does not appear to be dogged out. And, I know; the proof is in the pudding: I need to go run it for the acid test. I just thought it may be worth discussing before I drive to go look at it. Thanks. |

There is no reason it shouldn't run 1000 hours. |

think of a commercial B and S lawnmower. The ones that stay busy get that many hours in a few months. |

I've seen B&S's on mowers with 500 hrs with out an oil change, or a filter change for that matter. Not that I would try it, but if they taken care of there's no reason they shouldn't last anything short of forever. |
