Post nice boat first or older boat and nice motor
well im having a hard time deciding what to do im wondering if i should get a nice boat first and a older regular outobard motor or a older boat and a mud motor of some sort and then down the road upgrade the boat. i have around 3 grand to spend on the setup and i can get a brand new 15x48 alweld v mod for 1900 which dont seem bad but then id have to get a regular outboard. or i could just get a old flat bottom jon boat for around 800 and get a mud motor... which way would be smarter to go??

Cheap boat and mm

With boat and mm your not restricted as much than you would be with a outboard!! If your thinking that that alweld Is a good boat for a mm it's not!! It wont last long due to runners and thickness of boat

ok thats what i wanted to do anyways..im tired of having to cut off motor and get out and paddle or push the girl friends dads boat though sand and mud id rather just crank the throttle and blast though it haha..

but what do yall think about riveted boats? i know a welded one is better but i found a nice riveted one for 400 bucks would it be worth it to keep looking and get a welded one?

one more thing i wont be taking my boat in the shallows every time i take it out. i live near a few lakes and ponds that have tiny rivers feeding them which are shallow but i cross deep water to get to them. do yall think a mud motor would be worth it? and which one is better of deeper water a surface drive or a longtail? and there are some rivers covered with branches and stuff that i wouldn't cross in a outboard and a few sand bars and mud walls blocking some ponds id love to get to

surface drive 15hp to 18 hp. and a mm is always worth it. watch out for rocks in them river beds. they can tear yur boat to shit fast.

yea im planning on reinforcing the boat when i get one have family that is a welder and machine shop owner for 30+ years so that shouldnt be a problem. so a surface drive is fine over big deep water? and wake from other boats? just trying to make sure i wont regret a mud motor because i will only be shallow water half the time
