alright i just got the mud buddy 45 mag (used) back fires when im starting sometimes it and kinda sounds like it has a knock when its idling but the guy says it has 3 hrs on rebuilt motor is this normal it still runs good starts good and i took it out and ran it the other night and it runs like a champ is there anything you guys would look at i changed the oil and everything. so idk i just dont wanna get stranded.

Knocking is never a good thing. Best bet would be to spend the $ and get it checked out.

The 45 MAGs seem to be notorious for excessive valve gaps. I would start there. The valve lash should be set between. 004-.006 for that motor.

Its pretty hard to test drive something when its in Wisconsin and your in Utah lol but i will deffinatly have it checked its just not really like a distinct knocking noise i have heard motors knock but if you all must know i only paid 3500 for it so no matter what i think its still a good deal

After Market Roller Rockers will make a little noise in these engines, its normal though, that could be what you are hearing

your probably right Takem. i had it checked out and it was fine and it runs strong i had a dixie before and although it was a good motor this is like a Benz compared to that having the clutch and everything is so nice and Rob. your are THE biggest shit talker ever haha but i like it. i swear you are on every thread i look at haha and its hilarious when you piss off robin

When you said it was knocking I assumed you meant really knocking, not the clatter from the roller rockers. Glad it checked out ok.
