My GDSD just recently started making a knocking noise sounds like its in the the lower gearcase or shaft...the prop has no play in it..It comes and goes..out of no where it will go away sometimes for the rest of the morning..then the sounds comes back eventually. This a major problem? Thanks |

Don't know, but you definitely need to open up the lower unit and check everything! Have you greased the u-joints lately? |

Get some marine grease and a grease gun and get it in there ASAP. Mine has done the same thing in the past but usually goes away after I fill it full of grease. |

Normally, knocking is a sign/symptom of future failure. I would change it now to prevent being stranded. |
