Post subject: | gtr reverse question |
last week while using reverse on my gtr, ( i had been stuck in an area with only a few inches of mud and a hard bottom) my brake lever lost all tension, has been fairly hard to pull since the motor was new, but after using reverse and forward continously for a while and really putting the engine in a bind the reverse lever would pull all the way to the tiller handle, it would still engage the reverse but usually the reverse engages after about an inch of pull, i was able to pull it all the way. After a few minutes it went back to normal and still works fine. Just seemed like it lost hydrualic fluid but then it came back.... has anyone else had this happen |

You worked it hard enough to heat the brake fluid so much that it lost its viscosity thus lost pressure. I've done it twice in some nasty thick hyacinth, but it goes back to normal after it cools down. Thought I'd done screwed up big time, till Calen told me what it was. |

I've never had that problem, When you engage the reverse handle, squeeze it, don't half ass squeeze it cause it'll heat up tremendously, hence why some clutch covers melt. If you are reversing alot make sure when you squeeze you squeeze it to where there is no slipage |
