I finally got the motor back on my new (to me) boat (1544 polar kraft), took it on a test run and was only getting 14-15mph with me and buddy. On the old boat which was a 1542 i was running 24mph solo and 21mph with two people, and it still didnt seem to get all the rpms. But now i cant get the motor more than 17mph solo. Been trying to tune it but it seems like im not getting all my rpms. Im thinking my throttle cable is way to long and my throttle itself is horrilbe, very loose. My clutch hasn't come in yet but my idle is set so high that once i drop the prop in the water im basically on plane, then when you squeeze the throttle is revs up but gains maybe 3 mph. Not sure what to do, any help would be nice. |

What size motor you running and what's your rpms ? If you don't have a tiny tach there easy to get and install. Have you checked the throttle cable at both ends to see if its hung up. Was it idling ok on your other boat ? |

Go ahead and turn the idle down first, also are your transom angles/ heights the same on the two boats? |

You can bend the tab on your Carb to give you a little more when you squeeze the throttle. As far as you messing with the idle and it killing the top end doesn't sound quite right are you sure your adjusting the right thing? |
