No ducks. Too many yahoos. Chaos!! Something has got to be done about it before someone gets hurt by either negligence, stupidity or my fist. So many hunters having no basic sense of safety or sportsmanship or basic duck hunting skills.

Already had some guys flip a boat right when u turn off the pipeline headin to Fordoche
Another boat was comin and when they saw it the guy cut hard and flipped
Was a skiff wit a pd
Guy at the camp knows them and launched and he passed and they were on the bank
Took their clothes off to make a fire and try to warm up
The guy with no lights never stopped or nutting. Just kept goin!! So I hope he doesn't plan on going back cuz if them boys find him it won't be nice
I'll be in the north end of the lake in one of them canals in the morning. Hopefully no ones in that pond and I can claim it. Someone's been gettin there earlier than me and it sucks cuz I've been huntin it for a few yrs now

ive probably duck hunted henderson more than anyone in the past 4 years and i can tell things have changed this year. the # of hunters this year is rediclous. twice as many as in years past. Way too many Mojo's running, the few ducks that do fly over dont even bother any more.
1. dont plan on shooting till about 7 cause there's always a few assholes who start settin out decowy with and outboard @ about 610.
2. who ever the idiot blowing his duck call like a kazzo on the N flts needs to stop.
3. the houseboat blind that showed up last weekend needs to be moved cause its about to get burned.
4. dont even waste your time cause its over crowded and there are no ducks. (last three hunts havent even pulled the trigger)

This morning was our season opener in Alabama. I went a little further than most to an almost inaccessible area just to get away from all the yahoos... About ten minutes before shooting time, I heard the first shot. Once that happened, it sounded like I was in a suburb of Fallujah! I swear you could have seen the muzzle flashes for miles. On the one hand, I'm glad I stayed out of the thick of things, but I hardly saw shit where I was, so it's kind of a toss up between how many ducks you wanna kill vs. how many jackasses you wanna have to put up with...

I am holding off till the second split probably. The idiots this year seem to have reach an all new high. Hopefully the water will come up and spread everyone out. Plus I can get to a couple of hard to get holes. All I need is the gauge to read +10 feet.

I lie I will probably be out they Sunday.

Hunted there opening mornin in north flats, got there setup and was ready about 540. About 555 they had two guys come about 40 yards from us threw out a mojo and 6 deeks, shot at anything and everythin that flew from 2 ft off the water to flying in the stratosphere. Not a good experience. I think we came out with 3 gw. Haven't been back since.

It was starting to get bad last year until some of the permenant blinds spontaneously combusted on the north flat.

Haven't been out there this year. With the water so low is there any water on the north flats or is it one big grass slick?

Its got enough water for ducks
And one of them blinds lit today
I saw the smoke and my cousin called me
I hunt so far off of the lakes that I don't really have a problem
Till they look hard enough and find me then I make it hell by throwing an @$$ load of logs in the canal so they can't pass

In addition to having duck leases in the marsh I was a member of Pelba and Indian Bayou hunting clubs since their inception in the 1960's. They leased about 15,000 acres of land, half of which was flooded timber. Total membership was about 200 of which 75% were strictly deer hunters. So at any given time you only had at most 25 duck hunters accessing 7,500 acres of flooded timber with loads of mallards and woodies and you could hunt all day if you wanted. That was paradise my friends. The fees started at $300 per year and ended up at about $700 in the end when the corp of engineers expropriated both leases. Children hunted until they were 19 at which time they had to pay up, I was a pirogue duck hunting SOB back then. In the early days we had a houseboat and would cruise from Magees landing to as far north as we could get depending on water level, sometimes all the way to Lake Fordoche. We'd spud down and crank up that old Onan generator. The Shiltz beer and Segram 7 would go down real smoothly and we'd crank up the AM transiter radio with the grand ole opry. i have f ond memories of those good old times. I want a houseboat real bad but can't find a padnah willing enough to joint venture with me. I don't have the time to maintain it. It takes a lot of work as anyone knows who's got one. If you neglect maintenance it will cost you even more and then there's having to move it frequently when the water level fluctuates.
