I have searched but have not found much info on boat stereos.. I know alot of folks do a cooler radio but I was wondering if many people have done stereo installs on their rig. If you have done one or have a cooler show it off here!!! I want as many ideas as possible before I do my gator tail!

I had one but just sold the rig. Dfou put it together but i will do my next one the same way. It was an amp (200 watts i believe) with an ipod hookup under the front hatch and 2 bazooka 8s under the front deck. I ran a cable from the amp to the back of the boat to control the ipod.

Inside the front box 6" pvc with sealed cap. I played with the length and with or without the cap, this is what sounded best...

4 MTX 7.7" 2 way marine speakers in sealed aluminum boxes.
1 MTX 10" marine sub in a PVC tube.
1 MTX TM904 4 channel marine amp with sub out.

Right now I just run an IPOD directly to the amp. Probably going to upgrade to the Fusion head unit. I wanted to run all JL Audio equipment, but when my wife saw the prices on my materials list she quickly squashed that plan. I will replace with JL components when the cheaper MTX products start to fail. JL is expensive, but it lasts. I probably have $400 total tied up in mine right now. With JL it would have been closer to $1200 (with out a head unit).

Had 4 infinity 6.5 speakers (2 in front deck, 2 under rear corner gussets with no enclosure and 200 watt Pyle amp under console with iPod hookup and sounded good. Depending on certain songs and sound quality I could hear most everything while driving.

Did the same setup with a customers boat but with 400 watt amp under the hunt deck and its SUPER LOUD. Couldn't even turn it all the way up it was so loud.

The sub isn't in any of the pics on here. My tapatalk account is messed up presently, so as soon as I get it squared away I'll post a pic of the sub.

I just got my system installed yesterday. I have 2 big Pyle marine speakers mounted under the front deck facing the motor with and amp all tucked underneath too. I have a long iPod input wire run to the back also. It sounds great!

Yes, those are the same Bazooka speakers I've got in mine. I did four 6.5's. Two below my extended deck facing back and two in my bench seat facing back at me (driver seat). I have a Sony head unit with no amp (for now). I think mine is so loud for two reasons: 1. The dry storage compartments they are mounted in act as boxes. They're sealed up pretty well and the sound seems to reverberate inside them and fill the boat. 2. I mounted all of the speakers facing back. I found that by having them face front to back, they didn't have as much trouble competing with engine noise. I have no problem hearing my music at WOT without having to turn it all the way up. I can take some pictures when I get home, but I know that many do not have a center bench, and I believe that's what makes the biggest difference. I've got a friend with two speakers up front and two in boxes under his hunt deck, and they cannot be heard at all at WOT. I just got a Clarion 12" marine sub and took the Pioneer amp out of my truck that pushed my tool box speakers, but I haven't installed that stuff in the boat yet. I think I'm going to put the sub under the front deck as well. I'll report back.

I'll search and see if I can find the pictures I posted after Henderson Run last summer...
