All I can say is WOW.
Put the EVT mikuni and intake on and went for a run and was very impressed.
Boat was constantly at 29 mph, before was 26.5 mph.
Now my boat runs a 4300 rpms, but my prop has 90 hrs. on it so it has a little wear on it.
But overall I'm very happy with the setup and now I need to do the heads.

One question, where can I get the valve shims so that I can shim the valves.

You might wanna shim dem valves asap if you plan on running 4300rpms.

Oh and you might want to pick up some new valve stem seals too

I saw that it hit 4300 so I backed off. where can I get the shims. and why get the seals?

You can get the shims from a hardware store, I forgot what size & the correct name for them is but pm coondik or if he see's this thread I'm sure he'll post it up. If you are running high rpms the seals are fucked, you can check them out when you take the heads apart. You may not need them but most likely you will from what I've heard.

If you put on a carb kit the rev limiter keeps you below 4350 so you don't float the valves. You can run 4300 without shimming the valve springs. If your prop is worn- get a new prop and take some RPM off.

Wait till you do your heads to shim the valve springs.

just wonding why wait? I was wanting to due mine a while back as well. I thought it might be a good idea to have even with the rev. box.

Is it because of the off chance that a shade tree mechanic might drop a valve in the cylinder?

floated an exhaust valve on de #2 side back when i had my PD. I was runnin' de same setup as you at the time! wanna guess how many RPM's i was turnin' when it went south? it wasn't long after dat my heads were decked & beefed up!

everyone has their own thoughts on when and at what RPM's the stock valve train is prone to fail. personally, i wouldn't rely solely on a rev box to keep my engine together!
