Anyone know Mike from Dixie? Reason im asking is because hes screwing one of my friends around, and my buddy cant get ahold of him.. just wondering if maybe something has happened in his personal life that may of caused this before I go bad mouthing the guy.

So far my buddy has had nothing but trouble from them, and thats with Mike running it. He bought a 16hp which ended up falling apart on him due to the crankcase bolts backing out, which was not the only issue he had. After much hassle, they finally sent him a 18hp on his expense.. Since then he had an issue with the shaft... The set screw ended up having an issue due to the careless craftmanship as seen on Ozzis thread as well... Not completely sure what happened, hopefully he will get on here and further explain it, but he needed a new shaft... He called Mike and talked to him about the issue, and decided to get another shaft, which cost him $200.. Mike ended up taking the $200 out of his account 2 weeks before even ordering it (or sending it). It took multiple calls before the shaft was actually sent out.. When he received the shaft it ended up being 6" too short. He called Mike back and told him that the shaft was 6" too short and after giving the actual dimensions multiple times Mike told him that he was just going to have to have a machine shop make it. My buddy said he wanted his money back and Mike told him he couldnt put it back on the account, that he would have to mail him a check. After over 2 weeks he has yet to get the check, and can no longer get ahold of Mike. The number he had used in the past to call Dixie had been disconnected. He somehow got Mikes number, who he can no longer get a hold of since calling him and asking where his check was at. Does anyone know this guy or how to get a hold of him??

Let this be a warning to anyone considering Dixie.. From what ive seen, they are built like crap, cutting corners, etc. And now are taking peoples money. Do you really wanna deal with a company like that?

Mike's phone is fine, as is his text, as is his email. In fact, Mike answers all three forms of communication quicker than most.

I had the pleasure of using all three forms of communication today to arrange to have my 10hp shipped back. Mike honored Ben's word, which he was under not obligation to do, and reworked my motor under warranty. Mike upgraded everything to the new design, essentially replacing the entire frame. Additionally, I wanted a little more power and he insisted on installing the replacement motor I had purchased to make sure everything went together properly. In the process, the shaft on my new motor was 1" taller than the Briggs so he ended up re-replacing the belt box with a taller version since belts were not readily available for my standard configuration frame with a taller crankshaft. Did I mention that he upgraded the prop to a larger size suitable for the larger motor?

Iam calling BS on this. I called last week an no answer, he called back. I called today no answer. He called me back with in a few minutes. Have you tried calling other companies an got an answer or had to hold till they could talk to you. The man is busy, an taking over a company, so chill the hell out Obama voter

Ive talked to Mike probably 10 times the last week between calling or emailing. He has gotten back to me within a few minutes every time. He even went out of his way to email me a few different hull design ideas while we were talking on the phone. Seems like a great guy and will get my business when I decide to purchase a new rig.

-Whom did your buddy originally buy the motor from? Ben, Mike, or a Distributor?
-When was it originally ordered?
-When was it originally shipped?

I happen to know the guy Brasso is talking about that is having the issues with Dixie. While brassos credibility may be questionable to some on this forum lol... Mine however is not. Here's the facts. The motors are junk! The first guy fucked him on the original purchase buy continually delaying the shipment of the replacement motor for the first piece of shit he sent him. Now this other pos Mike has taken 200 bucks and sent him a pos shaft that don't fit. And has not made it right. The bad thing is he can't even give the damm thing away to recoup the money he has lost. If it was me I'd drive to Dixie and fuck some shit up. This pisses me off! And for all you Dixie faggs with your 5 post . Shut the hell up. Nobody listens to trolls anyway.

Dixie sucks whether or not they send you free shit to fix the broke shit! No different than all the guys bitching about mud buddy's. the same story over and over. Don't buy shit from these small timers they can't afford to make good products period.

This forum is an excellent place to get information on mud motors. 9 times out of 10 the topics related to Dixie are negative. You do the math. Very rarely will you se small shops put out quality product and stand behind it like. SETX performance. Even then it gets to a point like it did whith them and they got so busy he would have had to sacrifice quality to meet demand. So lets stop buying from folks like Dixie that don't stand behind their cheap products. That way as consumers we can spend our money on quality products from folks like GT and PD to develop even better products for the industry.

as most know i gave up on trying to get parts from Dixie.

I do design for my work, so I drew up the dixie shaft in CAD and sent it out and its being made now by local machine shop. The cost is $149, the lowest quote I got was $100 but I rather use a local place, all in cold rolled steel and with the correct dimensions. Im getting it in my hands later next week. If its good to go, I will let people know the shop name and you can call them and order it direct.

I am more than happy to share the dimension drawing, its pretty simple. I want to start the Victim of DMM (VODMM) non-profit support center. I know all the part numbers for replacements like bearings and taper-locks, so please message me if you need to fix your DMM, ebay is hells lot cheaper and all parts can be made locally.

I will not share the total cad file, as much as I hate DMM its still their design and Im not here to help bolster another garage start-up to make garbage products, cheaper.

just a note, I dont think Mike is a p.o.s. like Ben. I think mike blindly stepped into a big stinking pile of dogshit when he bought DMM, and he is still scraping his foot on the curb trying to get it all off. We got a bunch of hard asses on the internet!! I got nothing negative to say about dixie until I experience the product first hand. Customer service has been great so far. Why would someone (owner of a company) pay money out of pocket for someone else mistakes (bens) Bens motors are old news..some were okay most were bad. Mike did walk into a HUGE shit storm so he probably just needs a little time ironing it all out. Hell he answers every time I call... Im excited about my rig when it gets here

Just got off the phone with who I was talking about and apparently he is sending the check in the mail now.. Ill let yall know if it actually comes in. I hate to bad mouth a guy I dont even know, but he could have taken better steps in making this right than he did with the person im talking about. wow have not (ben) on site for a while, i find it hard to believe that mike is doing this you mean to tell me that mike is giving away free shit , he must be a a dum hillbilly shit head just like Ben,(NOT) how old is this unit ,it's like beating a dead horse, let it go already . ihave 3 dixies on one of them the frame mount was 7/8 off from left to right when ben built it i was pissed as shit, a week later ben sold out i talk to mike within a month i had a new frame shipped and along with it was a note for NO CHARGE ,who in there right mind would do that ,well to find out it was Mike the new owner ,i would bet it was a ben unit, that mike is fixing for free,he offered to send you a new frame give you back your money for the shaft, what's next his first born ,and it's your bro unit?, maybe he can tell us the story first hand .Mike didn't have to do that, i was waiting to be charged for that frame but was not ,Mike is for real, and stepped into a shit field, if it was me i would have changed the name and got rid of all the OLD problems since Mike didn't build them,every one would have nothing to bitch about towards Mike,again how old is the unit and WHO BUILT IT! and i never take what comes second hand
