Ordered my dixie mud motor (new frame) 3 weeks ago yesterday.. Mike told me 10 days it took about 14 to have it in my hands.. Not too bad, took It out first day ran great except fedex broke the air cleaner clips during shipping, so the cover flew off and is now in the bottom of the lake.. :? The motor was pushing my 1542 tracker topper a steady 25 with 2 guys.. Day 2 after about 4 hours of run time 4 people pushing an average 20 mph (speeds were no different shallow or deep water) the drive belt broke.. Called mike and he sent a new one out rite away.. Looked into it and come to find out it was just top loose.. Put on a new belt tightened it down to about 18-20 lbs pre break-in and she's running great.. Only other issue I've had so far was trim bolt is a little weak and wants to bend when motor comes down hard on it.. Ive put about 15 hours on it so far and will keep updating any troubles etc.. For the money this is a good motor in my opinion

Do yourself a favor get him to send a warranty shaft then take it to your local machine shop and have them make you one out of chrome moly. The shafts Dixie uses are a soft stainless that you will continue to break.

I started out with Dixie. Modified the frame and shaft. Switched over to gator tail. Very happy with my gator tail.

Best of luck !

Talked to mike this morning and he informed me that dixie will be introducing a 7/8" drive shaft for the 23 hp, and that I will recieve a whole new tail shaft/housing.. He claims this is the same shaft used in the 35 dixies and has never broke any.. Maybe this will be the end of Dixie's bad name.. Will keep updating, hope for the best

So within 15 hours you've broken a belt, replaced the trim bolt because it was bending, and you've snapped a driveshaft. And you think this is a good motor?

First impressions It was a good motor ran super smooth and a lot of pickup.. I think this company just needs to work the bugs out, mike is improving the design every day from Bens crap model, I believe the belt was just defective and this shaft issue will be resolved with the thicker diameter shaft but I will be updating as time goes on.. Long term aswell

Mounted and yes close enough that was in lake griffin, and I'm not a victim of stockhold syndrome, I know how things work and I can see why dixie is having a hard time working out the bugs. I believe they are headed in the rite direction.. I'm not a fool

Been about a month since your last update. How are things with the Dixie? Just talked to Mike and I'm looking at ordering the 23 to go on our 1744 Phowler Prowler.

Spickard if I were to buy a dixie 23 today, would it be reliable/durable motor? Keep in mind I don't want to mod/replace anything
