I was making a joke... But when I lived in la a few years ago, motors did not have to be titled (I assume they still don't). When I moved to Texas I had to title my boat motors and other crap and it cost me a fortune.

Technically when you register the motor you will get a title if you do not have a lean holder, some people pay cash and choose to not register

when i went to the wildlife and fisheries to register my boat the lady asked me if i wanted to register the motor. she said since there is no lean holder on the boat that its not manditory.
