hallelujah, he finally saw the light! I was wondering when he was going to stop defending all the broken shit in his review.... (Disclaimer: I have absolutely no room to talk shit since my first mm is still being built... ) On the upside, I do hope you can get all the kinks worked out of your rig and get some trouble free hours on it!

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Yeah ive seen it before bad design, bolts cant handle that much torque with the heat transfer from engine block. I bet you had to break out the vise grips

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
I saw a Dixie for the first time this weekend. I don't understand why they leave the clutch housing open. Anything can get in there and cause all sorts of issues. You get what you pay for.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Mercy, that looks fun.
Why did they put the clutch on the outer part of the shaft/backwards? Its exerting all the forces on the end of the bolts!. You need to address that issue or it will happen again. The easiest thing to do is make a clutch bolt carrier plate bolted on the outside the belt housing and run the bolts throw the plate then to the engine block. It will be supported on both ends.
IF it was mine I would flip that clutch around the right way, and redesign the engine mount.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Man just see if you can get your money back. Too bad lemon laws don't apply to these like they do cars. Man if you want to save just buy a used long tail or a proven long tail. Good luck with that.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Tried to get money back it says all over the owners manual ( 4 pages of diagrams ) no refunds. Yes I know I was excited to get my first mud motor and I defended mike but this is just way out of line. Yes he has sent me parts ( did not fix it..I did ) but something has broken on this thing every time I have taken it out.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
MB puts theirs on the outside also. The problem with the way Dixie is doing it is the bolts have to be so long to make it work. Too much leverage pushing on it like that. Looks like you can rotate the clutch 180* and put a single, shorter bolt thru the belt housing. That'd eliminate the torque from leverage on it & stop the broken bolts.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
It wouldnt be too hard to fabricate an aluminum spacer that locks all that shit together and eliminates the twisting action. Without the twisting, a pair of grade 8 bolts should more than handle the sheering loads.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
I would like to hear this guy's reasoning for designing that shitt...... seriously........ "Yeah , I'm just going to hang these two long @$$ bolts out here to take all the torque. It's gonna be so fukkin awesome!"

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
It used to be only 1 bolt, i snapped it everytime i took the boat out caused me to snap my belt opening day eve. Told him the design was b.s. i added 2 bolts he said he didn't understand why i was having this issue, made it sound like I was the only one at 1st haha more b.s. i questioned the fact about the clutch being on the end of the crankshaft an was told the manufacturer of the clutch wouldn't warranty it being mounted the other way due to heat coming off of the motor. I told Ben @ Dmm i was going to add another bolt i did and on the 3rd run 1 outta 2 broke. Therefore i told him 2 won't work either, so i installed all thread with coupler nuts and drilled thru belt box and jamm nutted everything together. Ran fine after that for 20 or so hrs til clutch finally went out and i scrapped the entire assembly and switch to direct drive.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Two of my buddies that have Dixie 35's had to unhook their clutch's last year. Bearing going bad or something. Sounded like a space ship going across the lake.

 Re: DIXIE MUD MOTORS
Well apparently they have started putting short bolts into the belt housing to hold the clutch better a couple weeks after they built my motor. So that issue has been addressed.
