My siblings and friends have expressed this very well. American history repeatedly reminds us that a black body, especially a black male body, is not worth anything. Tonight we are haunted by the horrific images of black people hanging from trees like strange fruit, Emmett Till's dis-mangled body, and Trayvon Martin's last screams. Fanon reminded us that blacks are the wretched of the earth. Several decades later we hang our heads in utter disgust, sadness, and agreement. The dream continues to be further deferred, if not forever out of reach. Tonight I go to sleep sad and feeling less than human knowing what America truly thinks about me and my body.

So what do I tell my boys now? At what precise pace should a black man walk to avoid suspicion?

And can they ever stop walking away, or running away, and simply stand their ground? Can they become righteously indignant without being fatally wounded?

Very few are killed by whites, the other amount is probably hispanics. But 13% of whites are killed by blacks, more than double the amount of white on black
