Starters usually stay good. Thought mine was going out but it ended up my battery w as going bad...

When you are hooking jumper cables straight to starter - big sparks and no turn = shorted starter, or stuck shaft ... no sparks and no turn = most likely stuck brushes (or badly worn).

If it is the brush situation, tap (don't wail ) the lower part of the starter where the brushes are - a lot of times it will free up the stuck brushes

does the gtr have a 30amp main fuse

if the fuse is good... jump the starter solenoid to the lead with a screw driver...

if it dont spark start tracing back from the battery

Make sure clutch is not engaged.....if it is and you try and start it you will get nothing......

Yea I know. I tested it out to see if it would and sure enough it fired up. Brought back the old go devil days

Yeah it ain't the clutch.. I thought through all the dumb stuff before posting trust me lol.. Everything works but no crank. Clutch engages trims fine.. Just waiting on rain...

The starter relies on the solenoid to engages the bendix and transfers power to a set of contactors to power the starter's motor. If the solenoid is froze up nothing will happen but sparks, but IF the solenoid is working and the starter is froze you should hear the distinct click/ actuation of the solenoid engaging the bendix / power contactors then sparks.

Also, are your battery leads getting hot?

I am getting no noise at all when turning the key. It looks like somehow saltwater corroded around the screws pretty good on the starter. Haven't noticed the wires getting hot.
