Post subject:  Mud Buddy motor on a Pro Drive boat?

Anyone have any experience with this combo? Looking at buying each separately locally here and was thold the PD boats have a different transom angle, so I was wondering if anyone had run this before and if there were any problems with it.

Not sure if this is the right forum, but it seemed like catch all forum. Mods please move if it is in the wrong place.

Thanks.

the transom angle is diff.. but you can always just shim the motor mount to get the appropriate angle. Are you buying used? if not, why not match motor and boat

Hyperdrive, and yes both are used.

Motor is a HD 5000 Mud Buddy and the boat is a 17X48 Pro Drive.

Hyperdrives are meant to be run on a boat with a 21" transom, so you may have to build the transom up a tad. Pro-Drive boats are built with a 19.5" transom. The hyperdrives trim has a very broad range, so the transom angle of the PD boat will be fine. The only way the PD boat transom angle might hinder you a tiny bit, is in deep mud.

Cool, thanks for the info. I actually thought the transom was even shorter and thought I woudl have to build it up.

Are the Pro-Drive boats generally considered pretty good boats?

As long as you don't run super thick stumps.

The bracing is a little skimpy IMO

Pro-drive boats are top notch.

I agree they are top notch, but they WONT last in the stumps. I know first hand.

They'll last just as long as any other GT boat.
