I am strung between builds a cc rig or a tiller rig. Both. Boats will be the same size (either 2048 or 1848) with 3/16 bottom 1/8 sides and 21" tall sides. I just wanted some insight on the guys that have cc rigs. Is there anytime when you said I wish I had a tiller rig? Is it worth the extra weight? Can you turn as fast as a tiller rig? Layout on boats will be very similar. 1 or 2 removable gun boxes, and 3' or 4' deck with small hatch in it, and hunt deck. I don't really need a cc rig but I want one!!! Motor will be 35 GTR bone stock. Thanks for any help!! Sent from my beeper. |

IMO CC are good for strictly fishing rigs. You will hate a CC as soon as you start playing around in the mud, hunting, and frogging. I had a CC prodrive that I sold after 1 trip to the camp. |

I personally love my CC rig. I haven't had any issues following my buddies with their tiller surface drive or longtails. There is a bit of a learning curve with the steering wheel when navigating tight turns but after two outings to our normal duck hole, it's no problem. The comfort factor is the best part. With the longtail, my left arm would be worn out from the amount of times the motor would kick up over logs and stumps. With the wheel it is much easier. Also spend the extra money and get an edson power knob. I had the regular stainless knob but it was noisy and not really comfortable. The edson is bigger so easier to grip, mounts directly above wheel instead of being offset, and has composite ball bearings that eliminate a lot of noise. I ran some variation of a longtail for about eight years before getting my new boat built and I wouldn't go back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - |

The stick steer is the perfect hybrid between a tiller and CC ![]() |

You know the juice runs strong around here, but it's a lot of money to drop without fully understanding what's out there. |

DDM shows us exactly why I would never have a GTR on remote steering. If you have to do all of that to back up then you will be extremely limited with a steering wheel. |

I've had both and I won't be going back to a tiller any time soon. It may be a little more work when you do get stuck but the comfort the rest of the time makes up for it. |

I'm not going to keep this rig very long so I might go cc. I really just want to build one for the hell of it. I might end up going with a pd but I really hate to! Nothing against pd but I am used to my gt. but it's still up in the air. If I go pd I'm going with stick steer though. |

I'm really intrigued with the stick steer. Wish GTR was available with it... |
