16x48 with 35 MB no speed
I have a 16x48 duracraft with a 35 MB and with 2 people decoys guns and blind bags it will only run 18mph. The boat sits low in the back and is slow getting on plane too. I know the boat should run faster than this. Could anyone help me with what the problem might be?

First check your transom height and make sure you have the right height for your motor. Your transom angle may also be a problem. Is your motor running right? What rpm are you turning? A little more info may help

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
Motor runs perfect but im not sure on the rmps I done have a gage. The motor just seems to heavy for the boat or something I thought maybe flotation pods might help. But I will check on the transom height.

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
The motor is heavy but 48 inch bottom should hold it. Your gas tank should be up front and may have to move your battery forward some to help balance the weight. Is this a flat bottom or semi v hull? You need to get a mini tach. You can't Tell where you are without it.

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
It is a flat bottom and it also has a bad tendency to backsplash when I stop too. But i am going to try moving the tank and batteries to the front today and seeing if it helps any. It will run 23 with just me alone in it but I still think it should run faster than that. I will also look into getting a tach. And the exhaust is gutted could that have any affect on it?

Get the weight up front and you deff need a tach. $50 on ebay.

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
i had this same setup for my first rig. by myself i was getting 27 MPH @ 3900 RPM all day and i could carry a 3 man hunt load 24 no problem. I also had my gas tank and battery up front. Also had to have my transom welded up 3 inches to help with the back splash and to get the motor up out of the water. It was a 23 inch transom when it was all said and done but i dont recall what the transom angle was. I was running a 35 with just exhaust and a 32" outdrive with a 1648 southfork flat bottom. Not sure if this helps but i think you should be getting more speed and load carrying as well.

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
I measured the transom height and its 15in. And the side height of the boat is 21in. Is that to low??

Or count the bolts on the back of frame.
11 is short, 13 is tall.
You should have 11 with a 15" transom

Wow looks like the prop is toast! My prop is the same way posed to be 12 inch and measures 11 5/8 my top speed solo right now is 27. I have a new prop on the way should pick up few mph with the new one.

Re: 16x48 with 35 MB no speed
Ur prop looks to be worn at least 1/2" might be the problem.
