Xmr are some beast .. I used to ride a lot and had PoPo 850xp sitting on 31's .. They are a blast till shit starts breaking lol

I got the 650 xmr. Didn't want to spend the money on the 1000. And going to that from a 7 year old 500 foreman, I should notice a difference.

I used to love riding and racing, been to almost every mud nats all the way back to 03. The bikes have gotten so expensive and maintenance intensive that I don't enjoy it anymore. Still have my outlander pit bike in the garage sitting on crushed 32" silverbacks

Ive got an 800 Max (got it before the XMR was available) that I have basically turned into the XMR (minus the air ride suspension) with the factory radiator relocate and snorkel kit on 29.5 outlaws. THey are amazing the amount of power they have, I also left a honda foreman 500 for the Can-Am, the first time you nail the throttle makes you forget all about that Honda!
I havent had time to ride mine much lately, but hopefully this summer I'll have more free time.

The radiator is relocated up on top of the rack where it wont get packed with mud and is easier to clean. The coolant reservoir and fan are under the radiator and protected by the shrouds. The factory Can-Am snorkels route up through the gauge pod and are hidden, unlike the PVC pipe aftermarket snorkel kits. The Intake and CVT intake and outlet pipes are up there. You can see the triangular shaped vent in the 2nd picture, just forward and above the shifter.

I been wondering how good a job they do with their snorkels...how sealed are they right out the box? I know when those POS arctic cat mud pros came out, they were demo'in 2 of them at red creek...we drove around them and laughed while their shit died out in twin ponds.

Can am is galaxies away quality wise from arctic cat, just wondering if they're actually sealed up good. Will it kill the bike?

I installed mine myself, the factory kit. It consists of a new airbox lid with the intake hose attached, and the cvt intake and exhaust are a one piece molded part. Seems to be pretty well built and designed, IMHO. There were also other molded vent lines for the fuel tank and Iirc, there was something for the water pump too. I don't take my bike super deep, but the factory can am cvt intake and outlet are why I put the kit on. They are pretty low, with the intake being under the front left fender.

So you put the factory xmr kit? You siliconed it up everywhere or just rolled with it? I've never looked at can am's factory snorks, that's why I ask.

Rolled with what was in the package, No silicone. It was a very well designed kit, and had some "pre-formed" hose clamps that were already oval shaped where the new pieces fit on the CVT housing IIRC. One thing I don't like about the factory snorkles is the CVT exhaust blows that hot air out on your knee, but I really do like the look of them and how they are hidden.

To the OP, sorry for the derailment, Nice bike. You will enjoy the heck out of it. Did the 650 take the place of the 800 after the introduction of the 1000? I don't ride enough, or have access to land close to my house or else I'd probably buy one of the newer Can-Am Commander or mavericks.

Their halfway sealed. Everything as far as the belt is good. I wouldn't recommend getting in water up Close to the racks though. The air box lid isn't sealed their is still some work to be done before anyone should really ride water with one! Dielectric greasing all electrical connections and siliconing the air box lid are good precautions!

Once i sell my 420 rancher i was going to get a polaris 570 with eps. Or an 800....Any imput on those two bikes would be appreciated.

I don't know much about bikes besides Hondas and can ams.

Oh I had waders on I knew what to expect, we hooked on to it flipped and pulled it out, drained the carb bowl put a little gas in the plug and away she went lol. This quad the OP has is a BEAST compared to mine would chew it up and spit it out.

I had one before the 1000s came out. Fukin rode one not long ago an its a big difference! I had airdam clutch hmf exhaust n programmer n seems like that stock 1000 had a lot more power

If stock ain't enough, tear into the motor and really open up some power. My pit bike will leave the 1000 's like they're sitting still lol!!

Yeh them fukrs break like no other. U constantly turning wrench on that thing. Sure u keep plenty of belts around

Upgrade the clutch to a QSC and never worry about the belt again. The stock primary is a weak point and the gearbox isn't too tough either. But then again, put any brand through that much hell and they're gonna break. I've had all the brands and definitely satisfied with Can Am

Mud nats is a blast man, but it's more of a party these days than a ride. By Friday afternoon and Saturday, alot of the trails are torn up bad. If you go, try and go early on in the week and find a map and take the ride to the cabin. Great ride, takes a few hours. I've been to almost every year, this will be my first one to miss in a while.
