For those of you who have commented on some of my threads I thank you for all your input and help. It seems the more I read on here the harder it is to make a damn decision on a boat and motor. It seems like when I think of ideas of what I would like then after a day or two I think WTF was I thinking. If you had between and lets go with a good sized budget 25 to 30K to spend on a boat with a single motor, no duals what would it be you would have. Anything at all custom, dealer you name it any motor.

I know you are going to ask what kind of area I run but really I think any of these boat configurations will work in what I will be using it for. We have no extreme mud flats, or none of those huge lily pad ponds or really bad folded timber, just mostly shallow water with thick mud base and tall cat tails and reeds. You don't even need to take that into account lets just use the guide line of 25 to 30K boat used for fishing and duck hunting 50/50 trailer included, painted and turfed.

Might give a guy a little fun time thinking of what he would love to have for a boat and help me out all in the same time. I trust your guys word more than the guy I talked to from a dealer in Canada he was putting 27 PD on 16 ft 3 and 6 degree john boats and said they were dogs. Even I know why that is.

Thank you in advance for your input and lets have some fun with it.

Phil

The boat dfou posted looks to be the perfect start for you. Pic it apart from what you dont like and go for it. It will take buying one or two till you figure out for sure what you like and don't like. Or come down to Texas take a ride in a few different rigs and do some bowfishing then head on down 6 more hours ride in some more boats and see dfou and get it rolling. LOL

For that amount of money (i.e. $30,000!), I'd get two boats. One mud boat and one outboard fishing rig.

For mud boat, from what you've described in other posts, I'd say for sure get: hunt deck, hybrid front, 17-19', 50-54" wide. Possibly go 3/16" if you're going to run a lot of ice. whatever interior you want.

For hunting, axe the extended front deck. Don't put in any seat bases and try to keep it as open as possible to haul bags of decoys, dogs, etc. Oh, and I wish I had a better set up to get in and out of my boat--the battery/bilge is right in the way--be nice to stow that under a shelf or in the hunt deck. I have a 7.2 gal gas tank on the port rear--be nice if that were in the hunt deck too.

I don't know how bad this will look but this is what I think I am going for, to tell the truth
the cad program I am using is giving me grief and is hard to work with without a manual. You know down load it and then just start using by trial and error. I was getting lazy and wanted to have something to put up to go with the description.

We have a lot of 3 inches of water and 3 feet of mud below, the kind where ya lose your boots lol or even pull your feet out of your waders.

Have you thought about a cc rig? If you ran alot of marsh like terrain it would be nice.

Looks like you have got it figured out!! Very nice design!

If you fish alot it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a rod/gun box out of that gun box on the side.

First one is a 68" white sturgeon , protected fish and the second one is a 23 lbs king salmon. Where both of these fish were caught I am not sure I would want a SD mud motor and a 19 foot boat. The sturgeon are located in fast flowing rivers with hard gravel/rock bottoms going form 15 feet to what looks like 15 feet but is an inch, by by 3/16 lol. The second is a king salmon caught off 30 miles on the pacific ocean LOL swells alone are in the 4 foot range on a nice day. We were in a 26 foot 8 degree river boat top speed 43 mph we could bet there quick but when the winds came up we were pushed all over the place and we had a 20hp kicker on a remote key fob I can't remember the name sweet deal though.

Later

I think that looks really good other than the way u changed the transition of the sides going into the transom. Is there a purpose for that?

I think the placement of the rear grab bars would be pointless other than getting in and out the boat through or over hunt deck. I really think there is only need of one spud pole on front of boat as long as u have two in rear . I personally think light bar and winch should be removable with plugs especially winch so u can pull boat from any direction and light bar removable for reasons of using holes for winch or really bad scenarios where it could be in the way are get ripped off
