Hey guys I just got given a 1436 jon. I am wondering if my 23 sd will be to heavy. The boat is solid and has 19" sides . Its only 36 at bottom but is 54 on top. I have the motor on a 1444 with 16" sides now. the boat I have it on now is a homemade wooden boat and weighs around 500 pounds. The jon is significantly lighter. I am just curious if the 8" of width will make that much difference. I will have to have the transom built up, but don't want to spend money to have it built up to find out its to heavy. Has anybody ever run a 23 on a 1436? |

I know somebody that had a 23gdsd on a 1436 and it did pretty good just not stabble enough to bowfish. so he got a 1548 |

I ran a 14-36 with a 23 hp surface drive on it. Ran good not much free board left. i had to be careful stoping to fast. Boat only lasted 1 season and the motor riped it in half. I dont think i would do it again but thats what i had at the time. I put the same motor on a 15-48 and it's much better and a little faster. Hope that helps. |
