Post subject:  Prop Cupping on SD's

I purchased a new gator tail 35 with Accompanying 17/54 drop deck and i am pleased with everything. I do notice with the acceleration that like most mud boats, you must overrev it a bit to get it on a fast step from dead stop.

So i'm wondering if a cupped prop would affect acceleration for getting out of shallow water/mud. Has anyone cupped their prop? If so, has it helped? Has it affected the speed negatively? Cade at the Prop Shop said they have done a few but don't know the results.

Kyle and Hoyt, I dig the drop deck. It works very well as a splashguard, urinal and dog platform. Since the deck is narrow and the dog too big to turn around, I would pull him up on one side and he would walk under the tiller to the hunt side of the boat.

It'a a machine, man!

Thanks

got a new 35 GTR too and did notice that it doesnt have to much of a cup in it.. Had a GDSD and it seems to have more of a cup... What do you think is the best performance prop for the GTR.

The big blade that GT came out with does not have the cup on it like others but it will handle its business just fine.

Calvin if you want to see what the mud buddy prop will do for you I have one laying around you can try but there will be no gains from it.Thats why its laying around.I have tried it on my motor and a stock motor and saw no gains at all.Right now I'm running a well worn GT prop that will push my boat the same as that MB prop, just tried it the other day due to my prop being worn.

They tried everything and found that prop gave them the best performance all around.I have another prop but your motor does not have the nuts to swing it and that mofo's got cup.You never know every boat/motor is differant, give me a call or stop by and get it it'll only take a minute to swap out.

I just pulled my GT prop off was turning 3950 with just me (worn down)

New prop with 2 guys (225+) & my dog were turning 3500 in deep water

Prop works great and still performed great for me even worn down was still pushing and pull be backwards through stuff.

I looked at the blade closely this am and do notice a slight, gradual cup.

I'm not gonna cup mine any further...the performance is fine. I'm just curious...
