I built mine out of 2x3x.125 steel tubing. I think it measured 52" od for a 48" wide boat. I put the outer runners in a set of plate rolls and rolled a tight radius to come back into the tongue at around 18'. The tongue went back and tied into another cross brace. Only had 3 cross braces including the one at the back of the trailer. It had about 4' of tongue so I could haul a wheeler in the back of the truck with the tailgate down. It had 4-2x4 bunks stood 4" up. It was a very nice trailer and shouldn't have gotten rid of it! Don't have many pictures of it though.

Its definitely not necessary but if you haul a lot of weight around in your boat tandem axles aren't a bad idea.

When u have a 2500# boat it doesn't matter. Especially with iron.
