That is a sick feeling, I came close to loosing mine once after a trailer tire blew out on the interstate.

If I had to guess, your boat was tired of being seen riding around behind you with that ball cap bent to shit and decided to commit suicide... I hope you get everything lined out, does GT sell hats?

That stinks; glad it didn't do too much damage. How hard was the hit? Would side rails on the trailer have helped any or do you think the boat would've just bent them over during its escape?

Mine fell off once when strap broke. I pushed the front off the trailer so the boat was flat on the ground. I then positioned the trailer in front of it. I then unhooked from the truck and used the trailer winch to winch the trailer under the boat. Then someone stopped to help when I was about finished:lol:

Sorry to see your rig like that. Glad to hear the damage wasn't extensive.

Would you mind elaborating on the tie down strap failure? Did the straps shear or did the fastening points fail? How was the boat secured to the trailer? Just trying to learn from your experience.

Post subject:  Re: Boat on the loose

Front winch poped had to re tie back straps one of them poped and the other one came off when the other one poped because it dint have a bind on it any more the trailer rolled off the ball only thing keeping the trailer on was the chains

Dammit man! Hate that for ya. It could of been a lot worse.

About 4 years ago I took off work for 3 weeks for the start of the second phase. I was two weeks into it and had duck hunted every morning and deer hunted every afternoon, running on RedBull. Finished hunting one morning and started to nod off on the way home while it was raining really bad. Next thing I know I'm heading for the ditch with boat in tow. I eased my truck back on the road so it wouldn't flip, but my boat came up on the road at a bad angle and flipped taking the trailer with it. It f'd up the 27 MB that I had on it but the boat was fine. 2 weeks worth of cans, decoys, and ducks spread about 80 yards. That was a beotch. Thank God I live in the country, 3 guys pulled up and we had it all back together in 5 mins.

Hey serious question!!!!
Did the axle on the trailer shift?! I turned to go over the levee ones ring and hooked a pot hole and it shifted my axle and I had to launch the damn boat and re align my axle cuz they only held on by u-bolts and the u-bolts slide down the rails

Post subject:  Re: Boat on the loose

I never looked at the trailer that was the last of my worries and yea it does have GG on it
The tank got there after I got it back on the trailer idk how he knew but he called me right up
Guess word travels fast

Post subject:  Re: Boat on the loose

I hope the trailer is totaled cause I got fucked when I bought it dude told me that it would fit a 18 ft boat
And said if it dint I could return it and get a diffrent one if it was to small we'll it was to small with the boat all the way on the trailer and not hanging off it's extremely tounge heavy takes two ppl to pick it up so I hope it's junk and I can get insurance to cover it and get me a longer one
Don't buy trailers from mike Gerald trailer in Batton rouge
