Why so much cheaper?

Author:  cb5331 [ Wed Apr 16, 2014 9:24 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Mikuni?

The carb itself is considerably less expensive. The parts also don't cost that much to machine. He just doesn't put as much markup on them.

Why dont more ppl go this route? This doesn't perform as well?

I was told the carb from PVT doesn't have an accelerator pump like the Mikuni 42...

Author:  krogers [ Thu Apr 17, 2014 7:56 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Mikuni?

The 38 does not have an accelerator pump. The 38 will not give you throttle response the 42 will without adding a cam. This is how al explained it to me. Add a cam to the 38 he sells, is what he recommended to me. Need to raise compression to benefit with a 38mm

Post subject:  Re: Mikuni?

So how much does the accelerator pump add (or delete in this case) to the total cost?

Author:  krogers [ Thu Apr 17, 2014 8:17 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Mikuni?

my understanding is its not an option for the 38mm.

I will be on board with the efi once it drops in price some. In the meantime I may try to pick up a mikuni setup…..maybe someone moving to efi will be interested in selling…
