I bet someone bought the design from him, or he formed a new company and partnered with some folks to produce it. Seems like he had a little too much on his plate with all the different things like excel, super longtails, regular sport motors, sport V, etc..

Wondering if someone has a lawsuit going because of a broken tiller handle. This way if Mud Buddy goes under he's already got a new company started.

I bet that machine shop/mfg shop around lake Charles bought the design.. the ones who sell mudbuddys but dont really advertise them. I cant find the name of the shop, same guy who builds the cannonball mufflers.

Boss Drives, located in Sulphur, Louisiana had announced it will begin production of its new line of mud motors in August 2014 beginning with the Boss Drive 3500, 4000 and 4400.

Boss Drives is owned by Doug Landry and Rodney Fruge, seasoned mud motor enthusiasts and well known, highly respected manufacturing professionals.

Mud Buddy has signed up as a Boss Drive dealer and will distribute the motors through its select dealer network. Mud Buddy will carry all three Boss Drive models, adding them to our Sport V, Sport Hyperdrive, Super Long Tail and Long Tail lineup for this fall.

The new Boss Drive manufacturing plant is designed to be a top of the line manufacturing facility located on the waters of western Louisiana and a stones throw from South East Texas (SETX), an area well known for its abundant backwater hunting and fishing.

Boss Drives has begun manufacturing their first three models and will begin filling orders in September. The Boss Drive business model includes over 100 marine dealers across the nation by early 2015, and up to 200 by 2016.

The Boss Drive is basically a Sport H. It is by far one of the industry's most advanced, toughest and most powerful mud motors ever built, rivaled only by the all new 2015 Mud Buddy balanced drive Sport V.

The Boss Drive features a cast aluminum and stainless backwater tough frame, has shift on the fly F-N-R outboard style shifting on the handle, and fit and finish like never seen before. The Boss Drive will be available in short and tall models and offered in Boss Major Brown and Boss Moss camo.

The Boss Drive web site and social media pages will launch within the next few weeks, preparing the company and its customers for this fall's hunting season.

Boss Drive is a dealer based model company with its products only offered through marine dealers. This business model is professionally patterned after Excel and other national marine products manufacturing companies and the first of its kind in the mud motor industry. The Boss Drive web site is expected to launch within days and will have a dealer locator. We expect many of the 150 plus Mud Buddy, Gator Trax and Excel Boat Company dealers to sign up within the next couple months.

We are excited and pleased to be part of the Boss Drive family of dealers. Please welcome Boss Drives to this forum of preferred backwater products..

looks like they sold the design...

All it looks like is a branding deal...and a convenient relocation to Louisiana. Musta got tired of hearing "Utah? There ain't no mud in Utah!"

Post subject:  Re: Boss Drives?

Anyone who thinks they are avoiding MudBuddy by buying a "Boss Drive" is dumber than AKA. This is simply a way of isolating liability.
