Start by cleaning your carb

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
I always kept Marine Stabil in my aluminum tanks, and never had any issues. That would be easy to try first.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
Never had a problem with my aluminum tank, but it don't sit long without getting run either. Change my fuel water filter every six months, that's it.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
I burn 87 with ethanol from my 14 gallon aluminum tank and I've never had any fuel related issues. Mine doesn't sit very long though, and I'm certain that has to be the difference

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
I got a batch of bad gas one time, bought the 93 that nobody uses so I think it sat for a while. Pumped it out, replaced separator filter, added an octane boost, the 21 gal treatment to my 12 gal tank, runs great now. The red stabil fuel treatment stuff for periods where it'll be sitting for long time is wise.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
If you don't burn most of your fuel and you know it will sit for awhile, just siphon most of it out and put it in your truck and always start with fresh fuel in your boat. A little bit of trouble but not as much as a bad running boat.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
Lots of people are quick to blame the tank. Had a buddy of mine put in an aluminum tank, new lines, filter. Started having problems. Kept blaming the tank for spitting and sputtering. Found out he bought fuel line not rated for ethanol. It ate up the inside of the fuel line. If no water is present, make sure you have good fuel line. Also, I never ran that shit in my boat. Always 93 no ethanol.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
I have right fuel line for ethanol and it's all brand new and I know part of my problem is I never run my tank empty it stays with about a 1/4 tank all the time I hope it's the gas and not something with that carb cause them carbs are tricky to Manny settings. But I don't believe that carb was every running 100% besides when I first put it on I need somebody to fine tune it. I can change parts but I'm not good at fine tuning ima put the gas in my levee truck it's a 83 with 350 6 inch lift with 37boggers gas will be gone in no time ima try and do it soon been working from 4-6 everyday don't have much time to work on stuff

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
If I have gas that sits for more than 3 weeks in my 9 gallon tank, I pull it out and start fresh. Not worth fighting it. The octane rating falls fast after 21 days of storage.
Also, don't store your boat with a 1/4 tank of fuel if you can help it, the tank can sweat on the inside. Top it off before you park it if you use it regularly.

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
Gonna be. More trouble than I thought was gonna let the fuel pump pump all gas out but that's gonna take FOREVER

Re: Advice from thoes with aluminum gas tank
been running an aluminum tank for 3 yrs in all weather conditions. use 93 non-corn gas. have water-fuel seperator in line, have had stock carb and mikuni in that time frame with 0 fuel issues. i will let gas sit in it for 2 months max(usually right after duck season while i'm recovering) . mix a little fresh gas in before i fire it off if its been more than 2 months
