Post subject:  Motor options?

Pretty new to the site and wasn't sure where to put this. Anyways, I just picked up a 14 ft fiberglass flat bottom, don't know the maker but I'll post pics soon. It's got a good strong transom and it's ready for a motor. I'm in Tallahassee Fl where we have all sorts of different lakes, rivers, and coastline that I want to be able to access. All I really care about is getting the rig to the spot whether I'm hunting, fishing, or just drinking. The thing is, I bought the rig with my brother and he is only concerned with speed for the most part. He wants to get a 25-30 tiller with some kind of lilly keel or ultrajack on the back so we can get through the thick. I don't really have the funds for a mud motor so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with standard outboards through weeds. I'm worried about a lilly keel not holding well in a fiberglass bottom and an ultrajack/outboard combo would probably bring us up to the price of a small mud motor. Anyone have any suggestions?
