So tired of hearing about the discussion of should student athletes be paid or not be paid. The answer is NOOOOO, end of discussion......... you already go to school for free, which cost the universities hundreds of thousands of dollars, college athletics are amateur sports, get the hell over not gettin paid

When i was in school 10 years ago we played soccer an the team got up an went to a sand soccer tournament an we won but couldn't take the prize money or trophies bc it would consider us professionals an we would no long be able to play college ball. I wish we could have got the money but we couldn't. I already know a lot of the players get paid under the table so nothin is gonna change

My opinion is , that it's college not pros. You get most if not all your schooling paid for. If the kid that wants to get paid to play college sport don't like it , then don't play college ball . See how far u get then.

It's the same thing as an internship. You don't get paid for it, or you receive small benefits to get by, until you can meet standards and have learned what you need to for the next level. College allows the player to hone that craft, and get some education while you're at it. To say that there's a lot of money being made and a player should get some of it is more of that double standard. I heard an argument in favor of paying the athlete that equates it to college football being effectively a minor league for the NFL. My counter to that is above. Doctors, engineers, go to work in companies as interns and make very little money doing it in order to develop. Some of those people already know everything they need to succeed in that profession, still have to do the internship. For companies that make lots of money from their work. Lobby the NFL to let you skip school and join the practice quad until you're good enough, and get a job to support yourself since the complaint is that athletes aren't allowed to work while on scholarship. But a scholarship is payment in and of itself. It cost non-athletes a LOT of money to attend school. An athlete gets food and housing in payment for the opportunity to develop and enter a draft that will allow them to make millions. Even the lowest paid athlete in the NFL makes more than most of us here, all for 3-4 years of effort at a school that is covering the basic needs and teaching you skills to succeed at the next level.

If they didn't get paid how could they afford to buy the answers for the finals?

I don't believe they should get paid to play the game that is causing them to get school for little to no cost but with that being said I think the decision should not b about them getting paid for the game but for all the money that the school makes off of selling jerseys and such with their name on it. I do not think that rewarding the guys with a small percentage of the money made off of stuff that has their family name on the back of it.

They get paid. Jordan Jefferson had 57 pairs of brand new tennis shoes in his closet when they searched his room while he was at lsu.

The problem with pay in kids is how do you pay them? Does one kid get more than another? Then the major problem is going to be that the big schools will have more money to give to kids vs the small schools which would be unethical to NCAA standards. Then kids would want more and more and you would open a huge can of worms. They get paid in education and gear. Once you start paying kids then boosters step in legally and up the salary. What about big schools paying walk ons while small schools cant afford to. Its not a job its a commitment and when you sign that scholly your not siging a contact. As a former student athlete I think kids are spoiled and dont deserve a dime. College is about growing up and learning to accept responsibility not making money. You make money if you put in the effort in college whether it be in the classroom or on the field.
