Looking to buy my first rig someone please put me in the right direction. Planning on using it to get around Kissimmee area so mostly be running vegetation and mud. I don't duck hunt would use it to mostly hunt deer and hogs but would like to get in to duck hunting. used is my only choice what kind of rigs should I look in too? Long tail or surface drive? 14-16? Hp? Any input would be much appreciated thanks in advance guys. |

Go on you tube and type in the brand names. Watch a couple videos and it will give you at least an idea what type of motor you are looking at. Look at the websites of go devil, pro drive, gatortail and mud buddy. Read the info to help you make your decision. Conditions make a huge difference in choice. Hard bottom and soft bottom make a huge differene |

The biggest and fastest motor you can afford. It is a big lake and you may be looking at runs that get up to 8 or 9 miles. You can get LT's or SD's through the vegetation but there is no doubt a SD is easier and faster to run. I actually know a couple boat/motor/trailer combos that may be going up for sale after the season plus I am pretty sure there will be others around. |

Considering the conditions on those lakes you'll want to look at getting at least a 17'x54" with 21" sides. Any longer or wider would just depend on what specific needs you may have. If you are thinking of using it for fishing the difference between standing on the deck of a 60" bottom versus 54" is quite noticeable in terms of stability. Long tails are fairly demanding on the operator and as a general rule somewhat slower, best bet down there would definitely be surface drive IMO... |

Ran a 1648 for years on Kissimmee and other central Florida lakes but recently moved up to an 1854 and it is a lot more comfortable on the windy days. If you run the edges you can definitely get by with the smaller boat. |

Ok thanks guys definitely seems like I'll be looking for something in the 16' range. Don't want to go all in just yet want to make sure it's something I'll continue to use worse case I can always upgrade later down the road. Hopefully now that season is coming to an end I can find a deal on one lol. |
