Anybody ever ran a SD on a Carolina skiff. Just curious as to how it would perform. I have worked out of a Carolina skiff and can attest to the ruggedness and durability of the boats. Im going to buy a new boat for the upcoming duck season and the flat smooth bottom J16 is high on my list. What do yall think? |

Seen it done... If you were running an outboard 80 to 90 percent of the time buying one new would make sense - otherwise IMO money is better spent on a true 18 foot mudhull - you need 18 foot length to balance a near 300 lb 35 hp SD properly.... But a light small SD or LT would be very functional... I ran an 8hp GDLT on Jons from 14 foot to 24' with a 140jet - had it mounted on the bow to push that barge out when I ran in skinny with the jet... You would be surprised what the small MMs can do - but slowly.... |

ive seen plenty of mudmotors ran on a J16. watched a stock 35 GT run 33-34 on one at Muddi Gras back in 2007. |

Had one with a 23gdsd... Ran better on the J16 than on the 14ft allweld it came off of. Boat was even water logged too! Still ran well... One issue! U will need to brace the transome! I put two big 1/4" aluminum plates. |
