 Guys with 23hp copperheads
I have a few questions for the guys running 23 hp copperheads.
What size boat are you running it on?
will it carry a 3 man hunting load with minimal gear?
have any trouble out of the motor or they as solid as I have heard?

 Re: Guys with 23hp copperheads
I know alit of guys that run em and say a 1544 or 1542 are the best sizes for em. The will plane a 3 man hunting load just not go real fast. One flaw I've seen is the shaft housing where it goes into the bearing housing cracks. And I've seen a few having problems with where the bearing housing bolts to the belt housing coming loose.

 Re: Guys with 23hp copperheads
Im running one on a 1648 lowe mod v. With a 3 man hunt load itll run 16-18. Not fast not slow but on plane at least. Thats with a 60lb lab and beavertail blind. It totes a load pretty good for the hp. One and two man hunt loads it will run low to mid 20's. Only problem ive had is with the throttle lever breaking in cold temps. Still haven't seen the warranty part yet and I ordered it xmas. Not sure whats going on with that.

 Re: Guys with 23hp copperheads
This past weekend, I had 3 guys( 180,300, and 150 lbs), my blind, 3 blind bags, 2 dozen deeks, 3 guns, a tackle box, 3 fishing poles, 45qt yeti, and standard gear(tool box, fire extinguisher, battery, etc).
I've got a 23 copperhead on a 1442 alumacraft. Ran 22 mph in the canals.
I have ran the boat with my bowfishing deck( about 120lbs) and 3 big guys plus 2 ice chest full of fish running between 17-20.
You really can't ask for much more out of a stock 23hp than what this thing can do. People who ride with me are constantly impressed with what it can do.

 Re: Guys with 23hp copperheads
got one on flat bottum 1442 riveted. love its power, will definently plane 3 200 pounds dudes and hunting gear if you know how to trim and balance wait. ive had problems with my bearing in the lower belt housing. nothing too serious. Josh and Gil at copperhead are awesome guys to deal with and you can talk their ears off about mud motors if you want.

 Re: Guys with 23hp copperheads
I've been considering getting one myself for my little boat. What's the approximate weight on one of these
