I may need some help gettin a job some where if we go on strike. A lot of the contracts go out tonight a 12am so people are already walkin. But ours goes out on feb 21. Any body work on a boat or somethin that may have a position open?

Your a dumbass ! Unions is what made competitive pay, insurance,Benefits. U know that right ? I'm at a non union plant but thanks to unions our plant has to pay more then unions to keep guys. Thanks unions ! Maybe his plants cost/profit ratio just isn't worth running the plant at this time or anylonger.

Unions are nothing but a voting block for the democrat party way past there time and usefulness. Look at Detroit and the auto industry oh yea let's unionize the fast food industry boy they are stuppin low most of America has woken up to them so now they are going to try to recruit McDonald's employees what a joke.

Ok if no unions existed , we wouldn't make what we make. So yea get rid of the Union. It's the workers fault making pennies not the ones making millions ? That sucks but there a lot of work in lake Charles .

My brother works at Valero in PA. He said up until last week he felt better about the upcoming contract than he has in a decade but a few days ago apparently the company is trying to change up some of their agreement with the union. I talked to him this morning and they're on a rolling 24hr extension as of now and he says 9 other refineries have already walked out on strike. Not sure where or who's though.

Unions are a lot like the US government. Was absolutely needed to change things the way they were and it made things better. Then over time corruption and HUGE egos ( power hungry control freaks) get added to the mix and now we get to where things are today. Given time human nature will screw up everything one way or another

^ I Agree, if a union does work the way it supposed to it works very well but there's corruption , favorites and politics no matter where u go in life. Life is full of horse shit sometimes.

Lol piece metal lol hard job . I use to work for local 2047 throwing 110lb sacks of rice 16hrs a day every day. We had a union. You can't be lazy and work that job. Main purpose of our union was stopping the ports from bringing in minimum wage Mexicans from taking our jobs and most of all protecting our safety by using properly inspected heavy equipment . Just because your Union does not meat your lazy. You must be a salary guy ?

Unions came about for the safety of workers!

I work for shell in deer park. This suck bad not knowing when your going back to work and having 4 kids with no insurance now. I hope they work something out soon
