I found a dog around the camps on the Wilkinson Canal at Bay Round / Lake Laurier in Myrtle Grove. Has to have been out there for a few weeks. Since 25% of the guys I see running around out there during duck season are in mud boats, I figured I would post on here. |

This is Myrtle Grove, LA and yes the water is still pretty muddy, as of yesterday. jcp, thanks for asking around. Don't take this wrong but I prefer that the person claiming the dog give me details. As far as loosing a dog in the marsh, if the dog does not come to the whistle, it would be easy. The grass is taller than the dog with plenty of broken marsh. A dog could get disoriented easily and you can't walk the broken marsh to find him. I only let mine chase wounded ducks so far and then I call him back |

Sometimes people aren't paying attention when they are runnin and the dog jumps out the boat and they have no idea. Found one a few years ago by our camp in Des Allmendes. Just came swimming up the canal to the camp. |

I have seen it first hand when my son's lab jumped out of my boat to get to his boat while we were running WO. Got back to the camp and realized the dog was missing. Went back 7 miles down river and found the dog on the bank. Thank goodness!! |

We were running in an aluminum bass boat and the dog jumped off the back heading to her master in the other boat. We did not notice. DUH!! |

Looks like I may have found Marsh Dog a new home. Mine likes to stand right in front of my GPS when I am running in the dark and fog. Not much help with driving but I always know where he is. Until I was confident he was going to stay in the boat, he was on a lead. |

I used to have a lab that like to jump out a crab traps corks when we passed them. I learned quick after having to pick his big a$$ out of the water to hold his leash while running. |

Wow, i've never heard of dogs jumping out of boats while running! Might need to consider keeping her on the lead in the boat. Especially since when we run, often times we are dominating cooters. i could see how she might take the lung after one at some point. Hope that dog found its owner. i hate hearing stories like that. It makes me sick to my stomach thinkin of my dog being left in the marsh |

I am not sure, but I believe he is talking about Coot. If so then it is not his dog because his dog got lost yesterday on thanksgiving morning . |

I would figure anyone that really cared would have put up a notice or at least told the staff at the launch they lost a dog. This is a great example of why you should have your dog chipped. Can't cost but about $20 and this little guy would have gotten back to his owner. He landed pretty soft. Two little girls, big yard, inside sleeping and I am sure as many treats as he can eat. Most important, he did not stay at my house long enough for my wife to get too attached. |
